ABOUT US
Gypsy Vanners, with their stunning beauty and affectionate personalities, have been captivating people's interests across the world and have captured mine. After becoming more familiar about the Gypsy breed, I decided to take the next step and invest time and money into them. My goal here at Sunset Ridge Horse Ranch is to continue the Traditional Gypsy Style and Temperament. By selecting my stock with positive Gypsy qualities and with selective breeding, I hope to produce more of what the Gypsy Horse is bred to be and continue their wonderful characteristics. Along with my traditional registered gypsies I am also breeding gypsy crosses,  as a work/ranch horse area it seems to be ideal. I still work to breed the best of the Gypsy Horse to the qualities they stand for but I also want to breed horses everyone can make use of and that are ideal for them. In breeding crosses the goal is to breed a hybrid QH with thicker bone and the amazing temperament of a gypsy horse creating a great family pet or show horse for people not interested in the drafty build of the gypsy horse. This allows for a calm docile horse from the gypsy qualities with more speed and movement from the QH qualities, not to mention the thicker mane and tail for added beauty. Gypsy Horse's have proved to have ability in all disciplines and I fully promote the Gypsy Vanner to the best of my ability. I want as many people as possible to appreciate them, as I and so many others do already.

I am located just south of Churchbridge Saskatchewan Canada on 160 acres of land. The ranch is situated on hills, overlooking pasture and farm land, giving a breath taking view of the Prairies in all seasons. Saskatchewan isn't called "Land of the Living Skies" for no reason. With our sunsets, sunrises and the occasional northern lights, we definitely live up to the description. It is my pleasure to assist in bringing more Gypsy Vanners and Horses for all needs into the Prairie Scenery!

Sunset Ridge Horses is owned by my self, Kathleen Jenson. To me, family is very important. My parents and I were previously involved with Registered Paint Horses, in showing and breeding. Then I left home and the paints slowly lost numbers, to just the few left on the farm still today. Making the way back to my home town as a single mother of 2 boys, I also jumped back into the horse world, involving my boys and other family members as much as possible. I have put in a lot of hard work to get where I am today, between  work, hockey, ball, swimming lessons, and school, and then my horses. I bought my first Gypsy Horse in 2011 and have been promoting and training my gypsies to the best of my ability since then. I have been working at: teaching tricks, good ground and riding manners, presenting and showing with fun performances and at family events, breeding good quality and lastly working at bringing Gypsy Horse Shows to the Prairies. I  got the ball rolling for the very first GVHS Breed Show to happen in Saskatchewan in 2015, and with the help of some other enthusiasts we made it happen. Looking forward to continuing.
